Dr Agisilaos Zerdelis
Clinical Research Fellow
Dr Zerdelis is a Clinical Research Fellow and Haematology Specialty Trainee at the University Hospital of Wales. His research interests lie in molecular haematology, and he is currently undertaking laboratory research in acute myeloid leukaemia as part of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Cardiff University.
Agi’s work focuses on developing and testing a potential new anti-leukaemia therapy aimed at inducing differentiation in acute myeloid leukaemia blasts. This research is supported by the Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme (DPFS) of the Medical Research Council (MRC), Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW), and the Wales Cancer Research Centre (WCRC).
As part of his role within the Cardiff Cancer Research Partnership, Agi contributes to the assessment and follow-up of patients in early-phase cancer trials, helping to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical applications. He is also an Associate Principal Investigator in a couple of large-scale national trials, further supporting efforts to bring innovative therapies to patients.
