Katie Gilmour
Senior Research Nurse Manager
Katie is the Senior Research Nurse Manager for the Cardiff Cancer Research Partnership. She provides leadership and research delivery expertise to the clinical team, while working collaboratively across several research teams delivering a portfolio of clinical trials including studies ranging from Early Phase to Late Phase complex studies, Advanced Therapies (Gene and Cell therapies) and vaccines in both solid tumour and haematology patients.
After a career in family social work, Katie qualified with a first-class honours degree in Adult Nursing from Cardiff University. She started nursing with the Teenage Cancer Trust at the University Hospital of Wales, looking after teenagers and young adults with both haematological and solid tumour cancers.
Katie has worked at Velindre Cancer Centre in the day unit administering SACT and then moved into research with the Cardiff Cancer Research Partnership, becoming Team Lead.
She is currently undertaking an MRes with Stirling University and has been a member of a Research Ethics Committee at Health and Care Research Wales since 2000.
